News 04/08/2011 - many gigs this month

So gigs are like buses, it seems. This evening I will be playing an acoustic show at Olives cafe on Magdalen St with Jason Strange, Ruby Nectar and Aaron Pickett.  Expect a bad cover version.

Then on the Thursday 18th August, Keith Brown & Friends play the basement of Rumsey Wells, and it’s FREE! We’re opening up for Death Of Death Of Discotheque and Hello Bear. Doors open at 8:30pm, we’ll be on stage at 9pm.

Then on the 20th, I’ll be playing another acoustic show at a top secret location… I’m not sure how much I can divulge but get in contact if you’re interested in making an appearance - you have a nice face.

Keith.

We are playing a show very soon for the good people at Hand$hake Promotions as part of the Norwich Fringe Festival.

Friday 20th May with Scumbag Philopsopher, La Roq Sportif and La Bete.  It’s going to be a cracking night, super line up, and it’s only £3 to get in.

News 20/01/2011 - New EP “Real Stuff” and being live on a big screen

Happy New Year to y’all.

Sooooo, my new EP Real Stuff is almost ready to unleash.  It will feature 4 songs, one of which you may already be familiar with (“The Light”) as there’s been a music video for it doing the rounds for a while.

Tracklisting: Real Stuff, The Light, On The Roadside, Meanderings

It’s due for release Monday 31st January on the Insufficient label ofcourse and will be available as a digital download at Keith Brown on Bandcamp and as a CD at Insufficient Records Online Shop.  But I’ll tell you more about that nearer the time!

It’s going to look a little something like this:

Real Stuff

Also we’ve been gracing the mahoosive screen outside Chapelfield Mall in Norwich thanks to the lovely people at the BBC, doing a live rendition of “Buried, Content”.

If you want to see for yourself, go and bop along to it at Chapelfield at the below times throughout January:

Wednesdays 6 - 6.30pm
Fridays 12.30 - 1pm
Saturdays 12 - 12.30pm

I think it’s also played at other random times throughout the day.

Here are some photos of said screen.  If you do happen to go, hopefully it won’t be as rainy as it was in these pics!

Love, Keith

News 11/12/2010 - BBC video session, and gig with The Book Club

Soooo, we did a live video session for the lovely people at the BBC last month.  We played “Buried, Content”.  This lead to some confusion, as the lovely host (Sophie Little) wanted to ensure the correct pronunciation of the word “content” - i.e. was it content as in “  satisfied” or content as in “substance”?  Well just so you know, the album title is Buried Content (substance) and the song title is “Buried, Content” (satisfied).  Confusing title for a confusing song - it has 4 key changes!  Anyways, here it be:

In other news, we play The Marquee in Norwich this Friday, supporting The Book Club (ex Milburn), with The Deacons and Eletric Youth Revolt.  We will be unleashing a new song on your ass too.  It is a rock opera called “Real Stuff”.

We are opening the evening at around 8pm.  Tickets are £5 and are available from me, so contact me and I will personally deliver them to you and you will also receive a hug and/or handshake for FREE.

As if all the above is not exciting enough, I got to meet the lovely, lovely, lovely, Jenny Lewis last week, plus the brilliant Jason Boesel and Jonathan Rice :-D

buff

Anyway that’s enough about me, so how’ve you been??

News 04/10/2010 - Music video for The Light, new gigs

Hot off the press, new music video for The Light which you can see below.  It features animation, a dance routine with my band and very special guest appearance from God (thanks, God).  The Light is a new song that you may have heard live recently if you’ve been to one of our shows.  It’ll appear on the next EP/album (working title ‘Real Stuff’).

Got lots of live dates coming up:

Friday 8th October - The Music House (Jurnet’s Bar, Wensum Lodge - King St, Norwich
Acoustic gig with the brilliant Alan Southgate, plus Al Wyncherley, B (of Hey!Duende), Tess Bachelor and The Dude Coopers.

Saturday 23rd October - The Marquee, Norwich
KB & Friends supporting Vegas Fame Index for their “Square Eyes” single launch show.

Friday 17th December - The Marquee, Norwich
KB & Friends supporting The Book Club (ex- Milburn) hosted by Keen Kid Promotions.

And that’s not all!  Next week we’re recording a live session for the Live at Old School Studio show on BTR Radio.  And in November, we’re also being filmed for a special live video session by BBC Norfolk Introducing.  More news on those to follow.

Thanks
Keith

News 10/09/2010

This Monday we play the Norwich Arts Centre supporting the mighty White Rabbits.  They’ve been touring with the likes of Muse and Interpol recently, so they must be pretty daunted at taking to the stage after the mighty KB&F! Ahem….

In sad news, our usual drummer of drums Jim Musgrave is away, but in happy news, we have a very special guest drummer for the night, Jason of The Deets, La Roq Sportif, The Secret Hairdresser and Planet Beet radio to name but a few of his projects!.

Should be immense!

In other news, it’s been a hectic month for chroma keying for the forthcoming music video for brand new song “The Light” (release format TBC) which will be set in a cartoon world, and features the KB bird, some driving scenes, the Angel of the North and God.  Yes, I said God.

Just before I sign off, here’s a (slightly bumbled) little cover of a song I’ve been enjoying lately by The Style Council

News 05/08/2010 - Live videos, BBC article

There’s also an article/interview type jam with me and ma boys by the lovely people at the BBC for their “Volume” magazine.  See page 4 http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/norfolk/pdf/august_10.pdf

Buried Content is my debut album, due for release on Monday 5th July and it looks a little something like this:

 2 Buried, Content

 3 Face Value

4 Never Left The Armchair, But I’m There In Spirit

 5 The Workout

 6 Workout Blues

 7 Sundial

 8 Lies

 9 Monsoon!

10 We Live In The City

11 We Danced Around The Clock….

To celebrate the album, there’ll be a special launch gig party at Take 5 (Tombland, Norwich) in the basement on Friday 9th July.  I’ll be performing most of the songs from the new album with my good friends Matt Osborne and Jim Musgrave (drums).  The super-fantastic line-up for the evening is: HUNT IN PACKS / KEITH BROWN & FRIENDS / THEE O ADORNO.  Doors at 8pm bands from 9pm and all for a measly £3

The album will be available at www.insufficientrecords.co.uk on CD and as digital download.

I recently wrote an article for BBC Volume magazine about making a DIY music video on a budget – check it out on page 7 here http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/norfolk/pdf/volume_june2010.pdf

Finally, the music video for Face Value is featured as part of the BBC Music Video Festival and is being played on a massive 60ft HD screen in the Forum in Norwich (the room on the left as you enter) from 28th June to 10th July.  It’s on every 3 hours or so, amongst fantastic videos by the likes of Alto 45, Kill It Kid, Violet Violet and Slow Club.  To read more about it click here http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/norfolk/hi/people_and_places/music/newsid_8560000/8560550.stm

And that looks a little something like this:

Thanks to everyone for the support

News 10/04/2010

I got together with good friends Matt Osborne and Jim Musgrave this week for a first ever rehearsal of my songs.

It went a little something like this

We’ll hopefully be playing some gigs in the not too distant future (if you’re a promoter/band and you’re interested in putting us on, please give me a shout!).

In other news, I’ve been busy writing and recording new material for a new EP/Album provisionally titled “…Seeks Like-minded Fools” due for release later in the year.

Much love

Keith
